President's Honors Scholarship

Student must meet these qualifications: 1) Live in Bay, Midland, or Saginaw County; 2) Graduate from high school this academic year; 3) Upload your high school transcript; 4) Have a 3.5 high school grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale; 5) Upload your SAT score; 6) Recommend SAT score of 1200 or higher; 7) Upload two academic recommendation letters; 8) Enroll full-time (12 credits or more) in the upcoming Fall and Winter semesters; 9) Complete FAFSA; 10) Intend to graduate in two years from Delta College with an occupational or transfer degree.

Note: Students who receive the President’s Honors Scholarship are not eligible for any other Delta awarded scholarship, however, you may bring to Delta College other external scholarships (such as the Bay Community Foundation Scholarship).

  5. Please write a short essay (up to 400 words) on *one* of the following topics. 1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story; OR 2. The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? OR 3. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome? OR 4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. OR 5. Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others. OR 6. Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
