Spittka Family Scholarship

Spittka Family Scholarship

The scholarship endowment was created and named in honor of Horst G. Spittka. Horst valued the education and training he received from classes in pipefitting and welding at both Dow Corning and Delta College. In 1979, Horst was awarded a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship from the United States Department of Labor in the trade of Industrial Pipefitter-Welder (Chemical). He felt well equipped to solve the varied challenges and problems that needed to be dealt with on a daily basis caring for the many processes, reactors and miles of pipeline in the Midland Dow Corning Plant. Skilled tradesman are the backbone to a successful industrial society and it is hoped that this endowment will aid in the training of men and women to fill this need.
