Louise K. Brentin Scholarship

The endowment is being established by Robert Brentin and family and friends of Louise K. Brentin. Louise K. Brentin was born on February 15, 1950 in Youngstown, Ohio. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Warren, Ohio, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Mrs. Brentin worked as a nurse – at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Saginaw; Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia; Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas; and Masonic Home & Hospital, Wallingford, Connecticut – before coming to Delta College to teach full-time in 1989.

Impact

This endowment is being established as a means to help continue Mrs. Brentin’s work in developing nursing skills in students and preparing them to become effective providers of patient care. Her interests in medical/surgical nursing, long term/elder care, wound care and patient/family education were practiced in both teaching and hospital settings.
