Isabella Flynn Scholarship
Isabella M. Flynn was a longtime resident of Midland. She was born Aug. 22, 1926 in Detroit, to Juan and Jane (Moffat) Castillo, and passed away on June 7, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. Isabella was raised in Dundee, Scotland, but she returned to Michigan when she was 17, crossing the Atlantic Ocean on the Queen Mary in the midst of World War II.
Isabel worked at The Dow Chemical Co. for over 20 years, rising from a secretarial position to organize and lead the PLAN Learning Center. She was a member of several civic clubs and of St. John’s Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir for 50 years.
Isabel was always curious about the world and attended continuing education classes at Delta College for many years. She often returned to Scotland, and enjoyed sharing the culture of her home country. Her love of people, culture and social customs took her around the world twice.
